200g octopus (sashimi-style or fully cooked)
1 small onion
15 stalks chive
1 shallot
1 piece black mushroom
1/3 carrot
2 tbls white flour
1 tbls rice flour
3 tbls tempura mix
1-2 cups water
ground black pepper
- soak black mushroom in warm water 15 minutes or until soft
- slice onion into thin pieces and then chop
- slice bottom part of chives into thin pieces; cut the remaining part into 1" strips
- slice and chop shallot
- slice and chop carrot
- rinse softened mushroom with salt, pat dry, and slice and chop into small pieces
- rince, slice, and chop octopus into small pieces
- mix white flour, rice flour, and tempura mix with water into a smooth liquid paste
- add 1 tspn cooking oil (optional) and season with ground pepper
- add remaining ingredients into paste and stir
fry octopus cakes until crisp (enough for 4 people)
